Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a prevalent virus affecting a significant number of people in the UK. High-risk HPV types are detected in over 99% of cervical cancers, and transmission occurs through skin-to-skin contact. While there are over 100 HPV types associated with various diseases, only specific types are linked to cervical cancer.
HPV can impact over 80% of individuals during their lifetime, and it’s estimated that over 3 million people carry the virus in the UK.
